Today, my host father Hiruta-san took me to the doctors because I have been sick for about 9 days now, and just recently got this terrible cough. So it was apparent that I must go to the doctors office. Yesterday night I called my insurance company and they said they would pay for all the expenses. This was good but I would find out later that it was close to pointless.

This morning, I woke up at 8:30 am.. pretty good to my standards. I awoke this time with even another symptom… a stuffy nose! I hope it doesnt get any worse. Anyway, we went to the doctors offic, which was only about a 2 minute bike ride away. The doctors office’s office was very small compared to Canadian walk-in clinics. I had an appointment though and there were very few people. Mainly only obaasans there (grandmothers). I waited for about 10 minutes and proceeded to the see the doctor. The doctor said I had a very red throat and he needed to get an X-ray of my lungs. Luckily, they HAD an x-ray in the office. Not regular I think of most doctors offices. I got the X-ray done in like 2 minutes, and 5 minutes later he told me I was fine, while showing me my small lungs. He prescribed some medicine and I could only imagine how much it was going to cost…

In total, the cost of the day was just under $30 Canadian dollars. The drugs I got cost about 12 dollars, and the appointment cost about 18 dollars. I luckily have insurance with the company I am working for, and they paid 70% instantly. Sweet aint it…
